Abu Dhabi residents now have their choice of two Covid-19 vaccines, with news this week that the emirate has approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech version.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is free, just like the jab produced by the Chinese company Sinopharm, and is also delivered in two doses.
The head of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, told CNBC in the US this month that people will probably need a third dose within six to 12 months of being vaccinated.
Doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be available by appointment only in Abu Dhabi at these designated health vaccination centers:
• SEHA: Al Zafranah Diagnostic and Screening Centre, Madinat Mohamed bin Zayed Healthcare Centre and Al Bahia Healthcare Centre
• Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (Mubadala Health vaccination center)
• Healthpoint Hospital (Mubadala Health vaccination center)
• Capital Health Screening centres: Al Jazeera Sports Club and Mubadala Tower (Mubadala Health vaccination center)
SEHA: Oud Al Touba Diagnostic and Screening Centre and Neima Healthcare Centre
Capital Health Screening Center Al Ain City (Mubadala Health vaccination center)
SEHA: Al Dhafra Family Medicine Centre

The Sinopharm vaccine is widely available at 100-plus locations across the emirate by appointment and walk-in. In March doctors said that a third dose could be given to a small number of people who are at risk of complications from Covid-19, including those with weakened immune systems and who have chronic diseases.
