Why Abu Dhabi needs a clinic for menopause
/

October is World Menopause Month and to mark it, we speak to two doctors about the first dedicated menopause clinic in Abu Dhabi: Dr Deepti Kansal, a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the British Menopause Society, as well as Dr Maryam Al Ali, Consultant Family Medicine.

The doctors tell us all about perimenopause and menopause, a transition that can happen when a woman is in her 50s, 40s and sometimes even younger. At the Abu Dhabi Health Services (SEHA) clinic at Al Zafaranah, doctors advise on everything from menopause hormone therapy and lifestyle adjustments to treating anxiety and depression. The aim of the clinic is to help women through what can be one of the most stressful times of their lives, and what better time to talk about this than in October, World Menopause Month?

Highlights:

  • The need that prompted the creation of this clinic

  • What menopause is like for women in the Middle East

  • The various symptoms of perimenopause and menopause

  •  The difference between perimenopause and menopause

  • The latest advice on HRT and lifestyle to manage menopause symptoms

  • Who can access the clinic

  • The data they are collecting

  • General menopause advice for women
