Make these all-natural DIY face masks from Tania’s Teahouse

Instagram-friendly and cute-as-a-button Tania’s Teahouse is so committed to wellness that the Jumeirah Beach Road cafe is having its first special dedicated-to-wellness week later this month. One of the events will be a workshop, personally hosted by owner Tania Lodi, all about DIY face masks

The New Yorker, who moved with her family to Dubai in 2005, became obsessed with the power of tea and also mindfulness and positivity while learning how to overcome chronic shoulder pain. She’s now looking to expand her quaint concept of “positive-tea” retail items and cafe spaces in Dubai and beyond.

“Be confident in yourself and your idea,” she says. “Life is too short to box yourself into something that your heart’s not into.”

If you can’t wait for Lodi’s August workshop to get your DIY on, read on, because she is sharing some of her favorite personal recipes ahead of time.

All the recipes incorporate Tania’s retail teas, which contain natural ingredients. Matcha, for example, contains chlorophyll, a powerful detoxifier and skin soother with anti-ageing and sebum-reducing properties.

You Glow, Girl

Add 1 tbsp of matcha powder, 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp of aloe vera gel in a small bowl, mix and apply to your face for smooth, hydrated and glowing skin. Honey unclogs your pores, matcha is anti-inflammatory and reduces redness, while aloe vera restores your skin.

Sensitivi-Tea

The best green tea mask for sensitive skin. Combine matcha powder, 1 tbsp yoghurt and 1/2 a mashed banana. Yoghurt is great for sensitive skin, bananas are moisturizing and matcha helps fight acne.

Tea-zone Face Mask

Here is the best face mask for problem areas and spot control (aka the t-zone). Put 4 tsp matcha powder, 2 tsp honey and 1 1/2 tsp coconut oil in a bowl. Mix all ingredients with a whisk. It should be thick, but if you find it too thick to apply, add some water. Leave it on skin for 20 minutes before washing off.

An-Tea Aging Elixir

Brew 1 cup of green tea. Mash up 3 strawberries, add 1 tbsp honey and then 1 tbsp of the green tea. Mix together until it forms a paste and leave on your skin for 20 minutes. Green tea and strawberries both contain powerful antioxidants, which aid in anti-ageing and clear fine lines and wrinkles.
