Covid-19 testing G42

G42 partners for mobile labs and high-speed virus detection

Emirati health-tech company G42  has teamed up with Seegene Inc, a global biotechnology, company to provide medical diagnoses and testing-on-the go in fully mobile laboratories throughout  the Middle East and North Africa.

The labs-on-wheels have been developed by Seegene and will offer easy-to-access, safe testing and molecular diagnosis from Pakistan in the east to Morocco in the west and every country in between, including the UAE.

The Seegene Mobile Station, which conforms with World Health Organization guidelines, will make medical care more available even to remote communities across the region. It will also provide governments with valuable information on where and how diseases are spreading and how to combat them, including Covid-19.

The Mobile Stations come equipped with everything necessary to carry out 2,000 tests a day and are set to be deployed in 20 countries: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Iran and Pakistan.

G42 and Seegene signed a memorandum of understanding during the Medlab Middle East Exhibition, the largest medical laboratory exhibition in the MENA region, which is taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre from June 21-24.

A home-grown UAE company, G42 has been at the forefront of the battle against Covid-19 in the country. The company facilitated the world’s first Phase 3 vaccine trials last year, which involved 43,000 volunteers from more than 125 nationalities, and set up the UAE’s first Covid-accredited large-scale laboratory and used advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques to speed up detection of the virus.

The company has also conducted  research into new vaccines and therapies and built the world’s largest facility for studying population genomics, home of the Emirati Genome Program.

At Arab Health 2021, which takes place in Dubai from June 21-24, G42 will showcase new cutting-edge technology in digital health and diagnostics, share data gleaned from the Phase 3 trials conducted in 2020 and unveil a new intiative: studying the spread of infectious diseases by analyzing waste water.
