5 ways to get healthy in Sharjah

Sharjah has a booming arts, culture, wellness and fitness scene that’s just waiting to be discovered, and Livehealthy is diving right in. For starters, we take a look at some of the larger community spaces. 

Dive into the Sharjah Aquatic Center

The Sharjah Aquatic Centre is home to a state-of-the-art facility featuring a 50-meter, Olympic-sized pool, as well as a number of smaller pools for recreational swimming. This Aquatic Centre is great for competitive swimmers, or just looking for a splash around head the Sharjah Aquatic Centre. 

Top tip: After all those laps in the pool, head to Fen Café and Restaurant for a nutritious bite to eat and some culture. Enter traditional houses and sit back with light refreshment in the courtyard. 

Stroll along the Al-Qasba Canal 

The Al-Qasba Canal is a beautiful waterfront area, perfect for a leisurely walk or jog. The flat path is suitable for people of all fitness levels and the stunning views of the canal make it a great place to relax and take in the beauty of Sharjah.

This brilliant family-friendly complex also an array of facilities to keep the kids entertained, including Wire World Adventure Parks, Water Karts, Soccer 5, Kids Fun Zone and much more. 

Top tip: If you’re walking Al-Qasba Canal solo, download a feel-good podcast and lose yourself with canal views. You’ll most likely end up walking longer than you anticipated. 

Take a fitness class at Sharjah Cultural Palace

Sharjah Cultural Palace offers a wide range of fitness classes for people of all skill levels. Work up a sweat, practice breathing exercises with a yoga class, or master stretching with a Pilates class, or for something a little upbeat, Zumba. W

Top tip: The classes and activities change from time to time, so check the events section. 

Kayak in Khorfakkan

Choose between popular kayaking spots: Al Khan’s public beach, sail through Khor Kalba mangroves or opt for Khorfakkan Beach. If kayaking is not your thing then you can snorkel at Khorfakkan Beach, or try wakeboarding, scuba diving, paddle boarding and more. 

Top tip: Why not make a weekend of it and head to The Chedi Al Bait for a staycation? This stunning resort is peaceful and calming and has the modern luxuries of a five-star resort. 

Walk, jog or run along the Al Majaz Waterfront

The Al Majaz Waterfront is perfect for a leisurely jog or a more strenuous run, allowing you to work out and take in stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.

Top tip: After your walk, check out the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum.
